Beginning this weekend, a whole new mode of transportation will be available to all Downtown Tempe residents!  Opening at Hayden Ferry Lakeside, right next to Tempe Town Lake, is the third Segway store in Arizona.  The “official” ribbon cutting ceremony will be held this Friday at 5pm.  But, for all you urbanites, the “free test drives” start on Saturday at 9am and run through 6pm.

On top of selling these hip, urban-mobility vehicles to the discerning buyer, Tempe Segway will provide Tempe Town Lake tours as well.  The 90 minute tours will run daily and start at $150 for two person tours.  However, for anyone willing to “enjoy” the summer heat, the good folks at Segway are offering a special introductory rate of $100 through November.

We had the opportunity to get a quick test of a Segway and we must admit, not only are they very easy to ride for folks of all ages and skill levels, they are also tons of fun!  We predict Downtown Tempe, the Mill Avenue District as well as Tempe Town Lake will be full of urban dwellers tooling around on Segways very soon!

And no, we are NOT receiving a free Segway for promoting this! (Although, we wouldn’t turn it down!)  Seriously though, Segways are just such a great urban lifestyle product, we had to let everyone know!
