The Sucker Punch Sallys folks are about to birth a totally new concept based on the old school “50’s Diner” concept. Think “Johnny Rockets” or “5 & Diner”, but since the parent company’s specialty is “old school choppers”, we’re thinking this Diner will have a little more “edge”. Construction has already begun on their new restaurant space which will fill the vacancy left by Ruby Tuesdays-- located at the premier corner of Mill Avenue and University in Downtown Tempe.

Downtown Tempe condo - loft and apartment residents will have to wait a little while because the grand opening is scheduled for sometime this August 2009. If their one-of-a-kind “old school choppers” are any indication, then this one-of-a-kind Diner is going to be a great ride!

UPDATED: New signs have popped up on the windows of the forthcoming “Sucker Punch Sally’s Diner”.  As one would expect, the diner- with an edge- will serve “Real comfort food” as all old school diners should.  Maybe more importantly, they will also serve BREAKFAST ALL DAY!  This is really great news for Downtown Tempe and the Mill Avenue District as local residents and businesses have been looking for a good breakfast spot on Mill Avenue for quite a while.  We can’t wait until August!
