Urban Planning & Metro Light Rail

Streetcars May Still Slide Along Mill Avenue

“A Streetcar named _ _ _ _ _ _”?  Well, you fill in the blank!

In the planning stages since 2007, a modern streetcar line may eventually connect Downtown Tempe to as far south as Chandler Fashion Square-- if Tempe city planners have their way.  One concept chooses to keep the streetcars on the main downtown “drag”, Mill Avenue, starting at the light rail stop at 3rd & Mill Avenue.  Another plan aligns the streetcars on Ash Avenue.

So, what do you think of this idea?  Do you have an opinion on where the Tempe streetcar line should be built?  If so, attend the public meeting this Wednesday (6/16) and let your opinion be heard!
