Centerpoint Condominiums to Be Rentals
The long wait is finally over! After a few years, the announcement on who will take control of the Centerpoint development and bring it to it’s completion was finally made. The Zaremba Group, based out of Ohio but with an office in Scottsdale, paid $30 million dollars for the two existing towers plus the remaining land just North originally slated for two additional towers. The owner has decided to create high-end rental homes geared towards college students and young professionals, as opposed to the owner occupied condominiums originaly planned. When we know what the rental rates are for the 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms, of course we’ll let the world know!
This is good news for the rest of the Downtown Tempe community. Not only will this bring new customers to the businesses along Mill Avenue, but it will also complete the retail that was once planned for the first floor plaza level of the development. According to the new owner, they plan on finishing the project in keeping with the original "vision" of the development. Construction will ramp back up in October. The representative from the Zaremba Group stated that plans are to complete the first twenty two story tower by March 2011 and the second thirty story tower by July 2011. While that seems a bit agressive, we'll keep our fingers crossed!
Congratulations to the Zaremba Group!
