Whole Foods Planned Again for Downtown
If you have lived in the Downtown Tempe area for any time prior to 2008, then you are probably very familiar with the rendering shown above. That’s a rendering of the now defunct “Mosaic Condominiums” development. Back in the day, the development set the community a buzz with the promise of a Whole Foods Market in Downtown Tempe. You can see the Whole Foods in the rendering occupying the first floor of the development.
Well, whatdya know? Today seems like groundhog day. The Business Journal is reporting that the just less than 2 acres of vacant land at the corner of Ash and University Drive has been sold to a new developer for $6.1 Million. The new developer has plans for an apartment tower (no condominiums this time), along with a Whole Foods Market on the first floor! Of course, this is unconfirmed by any of the parties involved, but sources say Whole Foods has already signed a letter of intent.
If confirmed, the positive development news just keeps rolling in for Downtown Tempe! What an amazing time to be in this market. If you don’t know what the news has been like in Downtown Tempe for the last few months, read our previous articles HERE and this article HERE.
