The
East Valley Tribune reported that Avenue Communities will begin
construction on the historic "Hayden Flour Mill" re-development which
will include a new glass structure that wraps the old Mill building.
Plans are set to begin in early summer 2008 and include numerous
restaurants, bars and boutiques. The re-development of the Hayden
Flour Mill will be a boon for Mill Avenue, which will benefit greatly
from the new environment created by the Flour Mill. Currently, Mill
Avenue development is separated from Tempe Town Lake from 3rd Street to
Rio Salado Parkway. This development will essentially "connect
the dots" and stretch the Mill Avenue district to where it belongs- all
the way down to Town Lake.
